Empowering your users to self-manage is a huge benefit to them and you, saving time for your Helpdesk and your employees (or students). We have three browser-based programs that can help connect your users and reduce the IT burden.
AD Phonebook is a browser-based company directory that is now helping an increasing number of organizations around the world connect their employees. All the data shown in the phonebook is from your Active Directory, so if Active Directory gets updated so does your phonebook.

AD Self Update is a browser-based program that allows your users to update their own details or you can delegate non-technical users (such as the HR department) the ability to update users and fields you specify (such as HR updating job titles).
When a user logs into AD Self Update the program displays the data you have stored for that user in Active Directory.
For example, John Smith has a new mobile number so he logs in to AD Self Update (the name is customizable) and updates his mobile number. His new mobile number is written back to Active Directory, now Outlook/Exchange/Phonebook are all updated.
As the administrator, you can select the fields you want your users to be able to update and those you want hidden or read-only. Users can update their address, mobile number, car parking space, department, office, job title etc.
The program features a Helpdesk mode which allows you to delegate the updating of users to Helpdesk, HR department or trusted users such as department managers etc.
For example, you can allow your users to update their mobile phone numbers but all the other data they see is read-only, you allow the HR department to update job titles, office location and parking space.
As AD Phonebook reads the data from Active Directory, these two programs can be a powerful combination.

AD Self Password Reset is a browser-based program that allows your users to change or reset their Active Directory password. The program also includes a unique Helpdesk feature which allows selected users (I.e. teacher, helpdesk operator, managers etc.) to reset the passwords of other users. This can be useful in a classroom or office, preventing unwanted calls to the Helpdesk. The program will prompt users to change their passwords before they expire, reducing the risk of expired passwords leaving the user locked out.

Each of the three programs above needs to be installed on a Windows Server with the IIS role installed and ASP.NET 4.5 or later enabled. The Windows Server also needs to be joined to the domain.
